We’re delighted to announce that DobroDIY CIC has been awarded a Creative Health in Lewisham Neighbourhood Microgrant 2026.
With funding from Lewisham Council and South East London Integrated Care Board, we will deliver ME+WE: Heart Works — an eight-session arts-based creative wellbeing programme for adult sanctuary seekers in North Lewisham.
Creativity, health and connection
The heart — both as a physical organ and a universal human symbol — runs through the programme, connecting physical, emotional and social wellbeing through creativity, craft and shared experiences.
Each session explores a different aspect of heart health and wellbeing, from movement and nourishment to identity, memory and dreams. Participants will create individual and collaborative artworks, with the programme culminating in a community exhibition at a local health centre.
Created with communities, not simply for them
ME+WE: Heart Works reflects one of DobroDIY’s founding principles: people from refugee and displaced communities are contributors, not simply beneficiaries.
Participants will help shape the programme, bring their own experiences and cultural knowledge, and create something that belongs to the whole community.

We are proud to be working alongside David Ashkar, Lead Social Prescriber at North Lewisham PCN, helping to connect participants with neighbourhood health services; Facework Group, our long-standing community partner and host venue; and London Arts and Health, which supports evaluation through the Creative Health Impact Framework.
